A well-established logistics business is looking for a hands-on Accountant to own the full accounting cycle through to financial statements. This is a practical, processing-heavy role — not a Bookkeeper role and not a Financial Manager role — for someone who is comfortable with detail and can take ownership from daily capture through to month-end, VAT/payroll statutory work, and year-end.
Key responsibilities
Capture and reconcile various cashbooks daily.
Reconcile control accounts and process related journals.
Prepare and post month-end journals and support month-end close.
Complete monthly VAT reconciliations.
Complete monthly PAYE, UIF and SDL reconciliations, and support annual and bi-annual IRP5 submissions.
Process intercompany invoicing and related journals.
Prepare year-end journals and assist with year-end close through to financial statements.
Handle ad hoc accounting work as required.
Minimum requirements
Approximately 5 years’ hands-on accounting experience (full cycle, not limited to bookkeeping).
Proven experience preparing accounts up to financial statements.
Strong Excel skills.
Working knowledge of Google Sheets.
Hands-on experience with Sage Pastel Partner.
Solid experience with VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and IRP5 submissions.
Comfortable with control-account reconciliations, cashbook recon and journals.
Preferred
Experience in logistics, transport, freight or a similarly transaction-heavy environment.
Exposure to intercompany accounting.
